林風(fēng)眠 1900年生于廣東梅州。1918年赴法國(guó)學(xué)習(xí)繪畫，入巴黎國(guó)立高等美術(shù)學(xué)校，作品曾入選法國(guó)秋季沙龍。1925年出任北平藝術(shù)?？茖W(xué)校校長(zhǎng)兼教授。1927年受蔡元培之邀任杭州國(guó)立藝術(shù)院校長(zhǎng)，倡導(dǎo)中西合璧的藝術(shù)運(yùn)動(dòng)創(chuàng)作經(jīng)驗(yàn)和理論。解放后，任上海中國(guó)畫院畫師。1977年定居香港繼續(xù)從事藝術(shù)創(chuàng)作至晚年。曾在北京、法國(guó)等地舉辦個(gè)展。是享有國(guó)際聲望及地位的中國(guó)畫家之一。出版有《林風(fēng)眠全集》、《藝術(shù)論從》、《印象派的繪畫》等。
Born in Guangdong Province in 1900, Lin Fengmian went to France and entered ENSBA in 1918. His works were displayed in Salon d'Automne in France. Since 1925, he was Headmaster and professor of Beiping College of Art. Two years later, upon invitation of Cai Yuanpei, he served as Headmaster of Hangzhou National Art College, where he advocated enthusiastically art creation and theory that combined both east and west experience. After the liberation of China, he became a professional artist in Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting. Later he spent the rest of his life in Hong Kong. Enjoying lofty international reputations, he held solo exhibitions in Beijing, France, etc. Published works include Works of Lin Fengmian, Impressionist Art, etc.
